This lovely lady just happens to my oh-so-stylish mom, and I will now shamelessly blame her for my utter lack of picture posting recently. She came for a visit and we proceeded to paint the town! I just love her combination of classic black with a pop of color. In fact, that just happens to be one of my favorite “recipes” for a rockin’ look. Black + anything bright = good times. Plus, I happen to know that yellow is my mom’s “happy” color…can’t you just see it in that radiantly playful smile?!

What a happy sight to see waltzing through Wheatsville Co-op this evening! Bright colors possess an amazing ability to force a smile from even the gloomiest of days, don’t they?
Want a little kick start color pop for yourself? She snagged these for a bargain $4 at the local Buffalo Exchange. Nice.

Quite a contrast to the Congress Avenue bats drenched in light and white colors she surely caught attention! The gorgeous shape of the cream colored bolero draws your eye to the complementing accessories. With hair pulled back in matching cream headband, the slight “grandma” influence creates a look simultaneously casually cool and polished professional, very fun…
Which brings me to the subject of the rather unpolished nature of this picture. I hope to invest in a better camera as this little project progresses, so bear with me!

While pondering the relativity of adding a bronze shotgun belt buckle to my style repertoire at this evening’s First Thursday, my eye wondered the direction of this lovely lass. Immediately struck by the beauty of her hairstyling, I asked her how she attained such a glorious look. She said, “It’s really easy!” Her look was classy, polished, nouveau vintage, the perfect compliment to “victory rolls“.
Fun Fact: Did you know it was the war-era clothing ration that brought these classic hairstyles to center stage? So, if you’re feeling the style doldrums, spice up your look with a new do!

Wondering through the concrete jungle of UT Austin during the “Welcome Back!” bash proved to be a few notches shy on the style side of life until, that is, I came across these two. What a glorious sight for my T-shirt weary eyes! When asked the occasion for their dapper duds, “Life” they answered matter-of-factly.
There could not be a more suitable response for the readers of A Style Spy. No reason. No occasion. Just style…for life’s sake!

Spotted: Parasol/Sundress combo at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival in Waterloo park this afternoon.
The sun was beating down on the tear-jerking, hot sauce-chugging masses, but these stylish lasses would never know. A punch of color to treat the eye and cool the bod. Parasols are oh so chic!
If the heat has got you in it’s sights, try a little undercover elegance, moderately priced and glorious to look at.
